The ones who receive only heaped praises are the dead and the despot.

The short-term opinion is usually not objective. So a (good) reputation could even be a destroying force. Think of some mediocre, forgotten figures suddenly get heaped praises. Or at least they are not attracting attacks. On the other side, psychologically people will suddenly feel a person gets much too more than he deserves but it's the exact same people who used to give the award. It might be the case that some reality pertaining to the guy is revealed but how can you conclude that forgotten-and-suddenly-revealed counterpart is truly morally superior?

This is not holiday. This is trial day.
For not being a part of the new Great Leap, for not losing the spine, not shameless. For not bragging typically, for not thankful when thrown a bone at, for not deceiving and not teaching the methodology to deceive.
For not following a dog's logic.

Revealed is what you intend to conceal, when what is to be conveyed gets nowhere.

Maybe an indicator for a mature environment is the demonstration of continuity. Otherwise for example if one is capable of level 1.5, he has to make with level 1. There is level 1 and level 2 but there is no level 1.5 available. But you may not be content with level 1 while going to level 2 means to sacrifice too much. The reality is commonly a discrete one. But for those who can speak 1.5 approximates 2 so they can do level 2 with level 1.5.
